What is ARTAS?

ARTAS is the first and only hair-restoration procedure that utilizes robotic technology. This hair-transplant system uses a state-of-the-art automatic feature to perform Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). ARTAS is FDA-cleared and clinically proven for seamless extraction of follicular units from a specific part of the scalp without causing damage or scarring. This approach uses no staples or stitches, and it provides lasting natural results.

Why Undergo ARTAS?

This hair-restoration procedure offers an effective cutting-edge solution to individuals who are experiencing pattern baldness.

ARTAS is a minimally invasive procedure, which means the whole process is much less traumatic to the tissues than surgery would be. As a result of this, any post-treatment marks are much easier to camouflage. The risk of complications is greatly reduced, and recuperation is quicker and more comfortable.

It also provides more consistent grafts. The chance of error during the ARTAS procedure is minimal, because it uses Artificial Intelligence (AI). The ARTAS system delivers a precise approach when extracting and transplanting follicle units for hair restoration.

ARTAS is an ideal option for patients who are unhappy with their appearance due to hair loss. The best candidates for the ARTAS procedure are men and women who want to remedy their pattern baldness. Around age 35, more than 50% of men suffer from hair loss or male-pattern baldness; the percentage increases at the age of 80 and above.

The ARTAS Hair Restoration Procedure

The ARTAS procedure usually takes 4 to 6 hours if the transplant requires 1,000 grafts. Most patients listen to music or watch movies during the process. A brief pause is allowed for mealtime and restroom use.
You will sit upright, and a local anesthetic will be applied. No general anesthesia is required. Dr. Ronan will use the ARTAS robotic arm to conduct the transplant process. Once all of the targeted follicles have been transplanted, the procedure is complete.

ARTAS Hair Restoration Healing and Recovery

Recovery time after the ARTAS procedure is much faster and more comfortable than with surgery, since it is minimally invasive and no linear incision was created. You may go back to work or do your daily routines after a day or two.

The duration of your procedure will depend on how much hair is being extracted and transplanted. Most FUE hair transplant procedures take between four to eight hours.

Will I be awake during my procedure?
Yes, patients remain awake during an FUE hair transplant procedure. The area being treated is numbed with local anesthesia to prevent discomfort throughout the procedure. Patients can relax, listen to music, or watch TV as the surgery is performed.
When will I see results from an FUE hair transplant?
You can expect to see new hair growth about four months post-procedure. It may take up to a year to see the final results of your FUE hair transplant procedure.
Will I need more than one FUE hair transplant procedure?

Most patients are satisfied with the results of their first FUE hair transplant procedure. In some cases, patients opt for a second procedure to enhance their initial results.

You will be given personalized treatment recommendations during your consultation based on your hair restoration goals, so you know what to expect regarding the number of procedures you will need.
